Projects across Bangor Aberconwy are set to benefit from the UK Government’s Pride in Place Impact Fund, with both Gwynedd Council and Conwy County Borough Council receiving £1.5 million in capital funding over two years to support projects in their areas. Across Bangor Aberconwy, the funding is backing community organisations and businesses working to revitalise local high streets, community spaces and public areas.
The fund forms part of the UK Government’s Pride in Place programme, which is investing in towns and communities across the country to deliver visible, lasting improvements. Successful bids were submitted by community-focused organisations addressing clear local need, as well as businesses bringing vacant premises back into use to help revitalise high streets and town centres.
Funded projects across Bangor Aberconwy include improvements to community buildings, enhancements to public spaces and play areas, and the refurbishment of local facilities. These include expanding a community hub in Penmaenmawr, reopening public toilets in Cerrigydrudion and improving play parks and green spaces in Betws-yn-Rhos, alongside investment in Bangor including improvements to shop fronts and accessibility, and new facilities at Penrhosgarnedd Community Centre.

The Pride in Place Impact Fund was announced by the UK Government last year, with both Conwy County Borough Council and Gwynedd Council receiving £1.5 million in capital funding over two years to distribute to local projects.
The fund focuses on three priority areas: community spaces, public spaces and high street revitalisation. It provides capital grants for physical improvements only, with routine maintenance and running costs not eligible.
