Claire Hughes MP is inviting people from across Bangor Aberconwy to join her for a discussion about climate and nature in Bangor on Wednesday 23 September.
The event, “Climate and nature: a fight we have to win”, comes after a summer which saw wildfires across the hillsides of North Wales, and at a time of growing political debate about whether the UK should continue to take action on climate change.
Claire wants the evening to be a chance to talk honestly about what is happening to our climate and natural world, what it means here in North Wales, and how we make the case for action at a time when some politicians are arguing for the country to step back.
She will be joined by Professor Christian Dunn from Bangor University, an award-winning environmental scientist and a leading voice on climate and nature.
Christian regularly appears on national television and radio, including the BBC, Sky and GB News, explaining the science and making the case for protecting our environment to a wide range of audiences.

“This summer we watched wildfires burn across our hillsides here in North Wales. We know the problems with the health of our rivers and seas, and we can see the pressure our natural world is under.
“And yet there are politicians telling us we should slow down, step back or give up on action altogether.
“I think we have to fight that.
“But we also have to get better at making the argument. We can’t just talk to people who already agree with us. We need to listen to people who have questions or are sceptical, and be prepared to make the case for why this matters.
“That’s one of the reasons I’m so pleased Christian is joining me. He’s an award-winning scientist, but he’s also a really great communicator. He’s prepared to go on programmes like GB News, have those conversations and make the argument to people who might not already agree with him.
“I don’t want this to be a lecture. I want people to come along, ask questions, challenge us and tell me what they think.
“Climate and nature matter. This is a fight we have to win.”
The event will take place in Bangor on the evening of Wednesday 23 September. Places are limited and must be booked in advance.
